I've always loved horses, but fell in love with my mare Layla in September 2011 (my 1st horse). I didn't know it possible to love even more until she surprised me with Ginger May 2012. That's where my passion for equine anatomy, herd dynamics, & biomechanics came about. I love to trail ride, move cows, train my young horses (I use the massage knowledge to make sure my horses aren't cold backed or sore in training). I've also had a few people have me come check out horses their working with to make sure no problems.
I'm certified in equine massage, I love working on that hard working ranch horse used for everything from roping calves to trail rides, the athletic barrel racing horse, the horse that your just not sure why they buck or throw attitude, the senior horse that has toted everyone young & old, the endurance horse who runs a ton of miles, I love working on them all. I also have advanced training in Masterson Method - an integrated, multi-modality method of equine massage. It is a unique, interactive method of equine massage in which you learn to recognize and use the responses of the horse to your touch to find and release accumulated tension in key junctions of the body that most affect performance. In contrast to most traditional modalities, it enables the horse to actively participate in the process of releasing tension. It is something you do with the horse, rather than to the horse. This participation and interaction is what makes the method fascinating for those who use it. In fact, if you do not allow the horse to participate, it does not work! (per Jim Masterson himself )
I find that the massage & Masterson Method go hand in hand & help allow that horse to move better after a session.
I now have 4 horses of my own & a foster horse whom loves to challenge me to work on new modalities to get her to walk better all the time. I love to learn & read on all the different modalities in this industry, I use essential oils to help the horse relax if their nervous & to help loosen muscles that are tight. I want to be armed with knowledge of different modalities because 1 never knows what you will need to help the horse. When I learn something knew I try it out on my own horses 1st to see how they react & fine tune from there.
I come to you as I find your horse is usually most comfortable at their home (although I do travel to shows & events too). I travel a good chunk of North Dakota, western side Minnesota, & some areas of South Dakota.
